PTE Read Aloud Practice Online 2026
Read Aloud is the first task in PTE Speaking: a passage of up to 60 words appears on screen, you get 30–40 seconds to prepare, and then you read it aloud into the microphone.
It feeds both your Speaking and Reading scores, so steady practice here lifts two communicative skills at once. Every answer you record on PTEAce is scored by AI for content, pronunciation and oral fluency on the PTE 10–90 scale.

Tips
- Use the preparation time to read the passage silently and mark where natural pauses fall — at commas, full stops and between phrases.
- Keep a smooth, even pace. A small slip is better than stopping, repeating or correcting yourself, which hurts fluency.
- Start speaking within 3 seconds of the tone; a long silence ends the recording automatically.
- Stress content words (nouns, verbs, adjectives) and let function words like "of" and "the" stay light.
FAQs
How is PTE Read Aloud scored?
Read Aloud is scored on content (how many words you read correctly), pronunciation and oral fluency. It contributes to both your Speaking and Reading scores.
What happens if I make a mistake while reading aloud?
Keep going. Hesitating or repeating words lowers your fluency score more than a single mispronounced or skipped word lowers your content score.
